Under the instruction of Master Dog Trainer Andy Hanellin, you will learn all aspects of Dog Training, Breed Knowledge, Kennel Management, and among many other topics, Canine Care.

Successful Graduates of the Apprentice program are offered the opportunity to train dogs for Dogs By Andy while establishing themselves in the field of Dog training.

Minimum Requirements

You MUST be at least 17 years old to apply.

You MUST be a dedicated, hard-working individual with a love of Dogs.

You MUST have a Driver's License and reliable transportation.

One day on the training field is all it took to show me that while many trainers may talk the talk, Andy Hanellin walks the walk. I made the move from Fort Meyers, Florida all the way to Mooresville, North Carolina just to study under Andy, and I never regretted one second of it. For as long as I can remember, I have been interested in and amazed by dogs and dog training. I had picked up some dog training concepts over the years from family, friends and from studying, but I always thought that I’d like to learn more from someone who was accomplished in the field.

As fate would have it, I met Andy Hanellin. I was so impressed with how Andy’s personal dogs were trained that I thought to myself; this is the opportunity that I had been looking for. I enrolled in Andy’s dog trainer apprentice program and that’s when the real fun started. The program started with basic kennel management and progressed through learning basic obedience training to advanced obedience training and problem solving. Additionally, I learned how to handle and train scent detection and personal protection dogs. Also included was an education on basic business concepts as they relate to dog training.

During the time that I was in the apprentice program, I came to see just how true it is that Andy is exactly that accomplished person in the dog training field that I had been looking for. He has an instinct for reading and understanding dogs and for dog training that comes from many years of experience. Whether the issue is obedience training and problem solving, scent detection training or protection dog training, not only does Andy have rock-solid credentials, he has a way of teaching that makes learning effective, fast and fun.

Confident in the skills that I had learned and in the experience that I gained in Andy’s apprentice program, I founded North Shore K9 in Mt. Sinai, NY and began to professionally train dogs. In the years since, my business has grown to be successful. I am now recommended by local vets and businesses and I have a solid reputation as a good dog trainer.
